Step 1We compute the descriptive statistic for students using the Data Analysis Tools add-ins in excel as below:Enter the data into excel sheet.Go to Data > Data analysis > Descriptive statistics > Click OK.Enter the input range and select the checkbox for summary statistics and other values as given in the dialogue box below and click OK. Step 2The output will be displayed as below:The coefficient of variation for male and female for GEC 05 can be computed as,Coefficient of variation for male = SD/mean =8.140716 /86.9333 = 0.093643Coefficient of variation for female = SD/mean = 5.934993 /83.5= 0.071077.The coefficient of variation for male and female for GPA can be computed as,Coefficient of variation for male = SD/mean =6.425882 /81.46667= 0.078877.Coefficient of variation for female = SD/mean = 5.304086 /86.06667= 0.061627Step 3Part 1:We see that the standard deviation GEC 05 for female is 5.93493 which is less than male which is 8.140716.Thus, we can say that the average distance of grades of female students for GEC 05 is 5.93493 from the mean while the average distance of grades of female students for GEC 05 is 8.140716 from the mean.Hence, the grades of female students tend to be close the mean as compared to the male students. Thus, we can say that females performed better in GEC 05Part 2:We see that the standard deviation GEC 05 for female is 5.93493 which is less than male which is 8.140716.Thus, we can say that the GEC 05 grades for female are more close to the mean while the grades for male are far away from the mean, thereby indicating that female showed more uniform set of data for GEC 05.Also, the coefficient of variation for male is 0.093643 which is more than the coefficient of variation for female which is 0.071077. Thus, there is more variation in GEC 05 grades for the male than female.Hence, female showed more uniform set of data for GEC 05.Step 4Part 3:The standard deviation for both GEC 05 and GPA for females is less than the standard deviation for GEC 05 and GPA for males. Also the coefficient of variation for both GEC 05 and GPA for females is less than the coefficient of variation for GEC 05 and GPA for males. Thus, we can say that females showed better overall academic performance.Part 4:Since, the standard deviation and coefficient of variable for male is high as compared to the females. We can say that the grades for male students is more variable than females. Hence, male students showed more variable set of performance.      ...
