Project: Design and implementation of Network
INTRODUCTION
In this project you learn planning phase of network
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of this project are:
To cover design of the network
Ten questions answered in the space provided
Description and specifications
o You have been contracted to set up a LAN as illustrated
in the figure above.
o All the computers have been purchased (thus not to be
considered in your analysis)
o All the workstations and connectivity devices will be placed
in the workspace in such a
way that no network segment length will exceed 25 feet.
o All the computers are running Windows 10 (except for two
that are running Windows Server
2016).
o Network adaptor cards need to be installed.
Considerations
o When designing and implementing a network, cost is always
an issue.
o Therefore, you must be well informed and have researched
accordingly.
o When proposing the adoption of networking equipment, we
should always keep in mind
decision- making factors such as cost, performance, reliability and availability (amongst others).

1.Identify the type(s) of hubs that you would use on this network ?                        In this network I would suggest to use Active and intelligent hubs. Active hubs  amplify the incoming electrical signals which contain data packets. They maximize network media distances and follow an equivalent rules as repeaters. If a received signal is just too weak for rebroadcasting, active network hubs apply retiming and resynchronization techniques. Intelligent Hub are also called as smart hubs. Function as a lively hub and also include diagnostic capabilities. Intelligent hubs contains microprocessor chip that are very useful in troubleshooting conditions of the network. 2. Identify the type(s) of switches that you would use on this network ?                              In this network I would suggest to use KVM switch, Managed switch and PoE switch. KVM stands for keyboard, video and mouse. PoE switch is used to connect a keyboard, mouse or monitor to multiple computers. These switches are often wont to control groups of servers while saving desktop space by eliminating cables. A Managed switch requires some oversight by a network administrator. Many administrators use managed switches to create virtual local area networks (VLANs), which allow you to further segment your network and control the traffic burden for every sort of connected device. PoE stands for power over Ethernet. A PoE switch supplies power over the network to different devices. This means any device on the network, from PCs to IP cameras and smart lighting systems, can function without the necessity to be near an AC access point or router, because the PoE switch sends the data and power to the connected devices. 3. Identify the type(s) of network adaptor cards that you would install ?                                   In this network I would suggest to use Ethernet NIC card. Ethernet NIC card may be a slot for a cable where we've to plug one end of the coaxial cable into the slots of the pc and another end of the cable is plugged into the modem, likewise, various devices are connected to form a communication found out between them.            4. Identify the type of cabling to be used ?                                   In this network I would suggest to use Twisted pair cables. The twisted-pair cable was mostly developed for computer networks. This cable is popularly called as Ethernet cable. All modern LAN computer networks uses the cable. This cable contains color-coded pairs of insulated copper wires. Every two wires are twisted around one another to make pair. Usually, there are four pairs. Each pair consists of one solid color and one stripped color wire. Solid colors are blue, brown, green, and orange. In this the stripped color, the solid color is mixed with the white color. 5. What kind of name-resolution solution would you implement for the network ?                              The name-resolution for this network is DNS(Domain name System). DNS adds an extra layer of security. Fault tolerance and load distribution of web hosting services to multiple servers enable multiple hostnames corresponding to a single IP address. DNS enhances the safety of DNS infrastructure, which is important for dynamic, secure updates 6. What kind of IP addressing solution would you implement for the network ?                               An IP address is an address utilized in order to uniquely identify a tool on an IP network. The address is made up of 32 binary bits, that can be divisible into a network portion and host portion with the use of a subnet mask. The 32 binary bits are split into four octets (1 octet = 8 bits). Each octet was converted into decimal and separated by a period (dot). For this reason, an IP address is claimed to be expressed in dotted decimal format (for example, 172.16.81.100). The value in octet ranges from 0 to 255 decimal. 7. Would the introduction of Active Directory be considered a must in this network?                              Yes Active directory is considered a must in this network. Active Directory (AD) may be a directory service that runs on Microsoft Windows Server. The main function of this directory is to enable administrators to manage permissions and control access to network resources. A server running the Active Directory Domain Service (AD DS) role is named a website controller. It authenticates and authorizes all users and computers during a Windows domain type network. Assigning and updating security policies for all computers and installing or updating software. 8. How many broadcast domains can you identify on this network ?                              There are 2 broadcast domains in this network. A broadcast domain may be a logical division of a network , during which all nodes can reach one another by broadcast at the info link layer. A broadcast domain are often within an equivalent LAN segment or it are often bridged to other LAN segments.  9. How many collision domains can you identify on this network ?                                       There are 3 collision domains in this network. A Collision Domain may be a scenario during which when a tool sends out a message to the network, all other devices which are included in its collision domain have to concentrate thereto , regardless of if it had been destined for them or not. 10. What improvement would you recommend for this network ?                               Bottlenecks are a number of the foremost common network performance problems that companies encounter. Even if one device is slow compared to the others, it can cause a wave of slow performance that reaches several areas of the network. A network monitoring tool will observe every device on this network and look for slow traffic. If it discovers a device or portion of a network is performing slower, it will alert this network team to the problem. ...
